OMAHA, Neb. — Florida baseball will get another shot to take down Texas A&M when the two teams meet on Wednesday night in the College World Series.

The Florida Gators (36-29) will need to beat the Aggies twice to advance to the CWS Finals for the second straight season. Florida fell into the losers bracket with a 3-2 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday night, a game that included a 4 hour, 15-minute weather delay. The Gators nearly rallied back from a 3-0 deficit but Texas A&M right fielder Jace LaViolette robbed UF second baseman Cade Kurland of a go-ahead two run homer with a catch over the right field wall with one out in the ninth inning.

Florida advanced in the losers bracket in the CWS after beating Kentucky 15-4 on Wednesday morning, a game that was postponed from Tuesday night due to rain. The 10 a.m. local time start didn't faze the Gators, who pounded out 15 runs on 14 hits.

With the win, Florida improved to 9-1 in its last 10 games facing elimination

Following the win, Florida baseball coach said freshman righty Liam Peterson (3-5, 6.18 ERA) will start for the Gators. Peterson threw 52 pitches against the Aggies on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits with four walks to take the loss.

Texas A&M will counter with lefty Justin Lamkin (2-2, 5.43 ERA) who started against the Gators on Saturday struck out six in three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.

UF's bullpen is well-rested following the blowout win over Kentucky, as righties Fisher Jameson and Brandon Neely both will be available tonight.

"We'll be ready to play, and I know our players are excited they've got another opportunity to play another game," Florida baseball coach Kevin O'Sullivan said. "We'll go home, get off of our feet for a little bit and come back and look forward to playing again."

Florida baseball vs Texas A&M in 2024 College World Series: Live score updates

Florida baseball's 2024 season comes to an end

Gators fall 6-0 to Texas A&M in the semifinals of the College World Series to end their 2024 season. UF's campaign ends at 36-30 and in defeat in Omaha for the second season in a row. Aggies scored two in the first, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the ninth and knocked out starter Liam Peterson in the first inning. At the plate, Florida struggled all night after its 15 run onslaught in the afternoon vs Kentucky, especially with RISP, where the Gators went 1-12 and left nine runners on base. After sitting one game over .500 entering the postseason, UF went on a remarkable run. It won the Stillwater Regional, the Clemson Super Regional, and two games at the CWS. The loss marks the end of Jac Caglianone's collegiate career. The Gators legend hit 35 home runs this season and 75 all-time, both program records.

Aggies add another

Ali Camarillo leads off the ninth with a triple to right on a deep fly ball that injured Ashton Wilson, who slammed head and shoulder first into the chain-linked wall. After a delay that saw Jayden Guy come into RF, Kaeden Kent singles down the first base line, and the Aggies lead 6-0. Luke McNellie enters for Neely.

Another disappointing inning for Gators

Jac Caglianone, in potentially his final AB as a Gator, singles to lead off the eighth, and Cade Kurland then draws a long walk. However, UF suffers two flyouts and a strikeout to end the frame with no damage. Eight runners now left on base, and Florida is 1-12 with RISP. 5-0 Aggies over Gators after eight.

Runners left in scoring position again for Florida

Gators begin inning with back-to-back walks, but Josh Stewart enters for Aggies in place of Chris Cortez and he strikes out the side. Florida has now left six on base and are 1-9 with RISP. TAMU leads UF 5-0 after six.

Gators in bigger hole after Aggies homer

Neely allows his first runs since the super regionals vs Clemson as Caden Sorrell stares him down and blasts out a fastball to right on a full count. TAMU now leads the Gators 5-0 in the sixth inning. It's only the second time in the postseason Neely allowed runs. Michael Robertson ends the inning with a clutch diving catch in center.

Brandon Neely time is here

O'Sullivan pulls Clemente after just 14 pitches and one out as Brandon Neely enters the game. The Gators best pitcher didn't go vs UK, but he last hurled three shutout innings vs NC State Monday. One runner is on for the Aggies with one out.

Jake Clemente in for Gators

Kevin O'Sullivan turns to the freshman for the second time today as Fisher Jameson's day is over after 4 2/3 innings of work. Jameson allowed the one run in the fifth, but that was it. Earlier today vs Kentucky, Clemente allowed no runs in two innings. In the bottom of the fifth, the Gators went down 1-2-3 for the second inning in a row.

Back-to-back doubles extend Texas A&M's lead

The Aggies finally got to Fisher Jameson in the top of the fifth inning. Kaeden Kent began with a double, and after a strikeout, Gavin Grahovic hit a ground-rule double to put TAMU up 3-0 on Florida. Jameson doesn't allow anymore, and Brody Donay will begin the bottom of the fifth for the Gators.

Florida baseball leaves bases loaded in third inning

Florida leaves two more runners in scoring position as UF loads the bases in the third inning and fails to score. Michael Robertson walked and the Gators followed with back-to-back singles from Jac Caglianone and Cade Kurland to load the bases. But Tyler Shelnut then struck out and Colby Shelton popped out in foul territory to the shortstop to end the threat. Texas A&M 2, Florida 0 end 3rd.

Florida baseball leaves RISP in second inning

Florida shortstop Colby Shelton leads off the second inning with a double against Texas A&M starter Justin Lamkin but is left stranded there. Lamkin strikes out the next three batters he faces, including Florida third baseman Dale Thomas on an 11-pitch at bat. Texas A&M 2, Gators 0 end 2.

Texas A&M jumps to early lead, Florida baseball P Liam Peterson pulled

Texas A&M jumps to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as freshman Liam Peterson struggled with command for a second straight start. Peterson walked the bases loaded, then walked TAMU first baseman Ted Burton with the bases loaded to give the Aggies a 1-0 lead. Fisher Jameson then came in for Peterson, limiting the damage, allowing a sac fly to TAMU RF Caden Sorrell to put the Aggies up 2-0. Jameson then got a force out to end the inning. Peterson lasted just 1/3 of an inning and of his 28 pitches, only 10 were strikes. This will put a strain on the Florida bullpen to cover the final 8 2/3 innings. Texas A&M 2, Florida 0 mid-1st
