This might be the most unintentionally depressing book ever.

Since Bob needs money so that he and his dog, Rex, can live comfortably, his idea about becoming a pet sitter leads to more trouble than he ever imagined. Instead of everyone's sweet little cats and dogs, his clients bring in some unexpected critters. Goldilocks drops off a bear who insists on trying out all the chairs and beds, and a golden-egg laying goose comes to stay. There are billy goats, but the worst arrival has to be the Big, Bad Wolf who is being passed off by the Three Little Pigs as a puppy with exceptionally strong lung power. It's all silly fun, and fairy tale fans are bound to enjoy the story as they identify their own favorite fairy tale characters and possibly imagine adding some others to the cast. I didn't particularly like the ending, but I'm betting most readers will as they consider what might happen if Bob climbs up that bean stalk. If readers don't know the characters or tales featured here, they will be a bit lost, though. As I often remark when I find books like this, I am so pleased when publishers try to keep traditional tales alive, whether in their pure form or as fractured versions. The colorful illustrations show lots of action and movement but are a bit flat for my taste.

This is a cute and funny story that features different fairy tale characters. We meet Bob and his sidekick, Rex, who have just decided to start up their own pet sitting service. After posting signs up advertising, Bob begins to take in animals but to his surprise, they were pets from fairy tales. Bob had been expecting regular, normal pets such as hamsters, dogs, cats, etc. As the pets cause mischief and mayhem in Bob's house and to Rex's things, Bob realizes he can not take in any more fairy tale pets and decides to quit pet sitting. Using the seeds that Jack gave him, Bob and Rex set out to plant a garden nearby. The story ends as the seeds sprout and the giant comes down the beanstalk while asking readers what could go wrong. Kids will love the easy text and funny experiences that Bob has along the way.

This book is a good spring board in terms of creative writing but god is it depressing!! A boy and his dog live in poverty so the boys finds a job he thinks he will love but it ends up being way more work than he originally signed on for and the job eventually takes over his life and literally wrecks his home. I’m not even sure if the ending is considered “happy.” What on Earth was the author thinking!?

Hilarious, if you don't actually care about people who are so poor getting their house trashed. Good for discussion? Ask the child what Bob could have done better when setting up this career of pet carer. Ask the child to compare the original tales to the glimpses shown here (why does the [female] troll have the billy goats gruff as pets?) Ask also, of course, what's going to happen next.

LMAO!!! The pictures were great, the story was hilarious. This would be so much fun to do for a storytime. It is not too long or wordy, and the story is easy moving. Other book that could be read along with this one for a story time is one of fairy tales that this book takes from and then do a craft with the animals that go along with the book.

Bob decides he's going to be a pet sitter to raise some extra cash. But he's rather flummoxed when a golden-haired girl turns up with a baby bear . She's followed by Jack leaving a goose ...
This is a story that will delight children who can identify the traditional fairy tale creatures found on each page. The illustrations and big and bold with lots of humorous detail.

Bob and his pet dog, Rex, live on a hill. In order to make some money, they decide to start a pet-sitting business. On their first day, they get some well-known visitors and their pets...and it quickly becomes chaos. An okay mash-up of several fairy tales...but there is no resolution to the conflict.

Meet Bob and his dog Rex. Life is good except they're poor so they open up a pet service and get a bit more than they bargained for! A fun and imaginative twist on some classic fairytale creatures and a surprise ending. Very clever!

This is a funny and original idea for a book - a boy, Bob, and his pet Rex, decide to be pet sitters to make money. But all the pets who show up appear to be straight out of fairy tales. Great story!
Illustrations match the story.
